Who we are:

The Agrius Forest Schools are outdoor-based alternatives to traditional school.

As an outdoor private school, we use skill-based methods to educate our students on the world around them. We use SCIENCE to back our teaching methods and COMMUNITY to strengthen our ties to the ecosystem.

Who we serve

We serve children from the ages of 5-13 (K-8) by immersing them in nature. We offer school-year full day programming as well as half-day Summer programs. Our school year follows the Douglas County School District calendar - with a 4-day school week (Monday through Thursday, 9 am - 3 pm.

Why choose a Forest School?

By utilizing the UK Forest School's philosophy in cohesion with Dr. Maria Montessori's teaching methods, we empower young people to make mistakes, foster their independence, and build their self-worth and confidence.

Nature-based education is uniquely beneficial to neurodiverse learners and those that face adversity in a public or traditional school.

It is the ones who can't sit still, the loud voices, the 'shy', the insecure, and the anxious that benefit from nature-based learning. They thrive in the outdoors in ways that can't be seen in the confinement of a traditional classroom setting.

About Us

Meet the founder

Lia Franciotti

"I could see the growing movement and knew I needed to join up. Forests schools are exactly what our children need. They need connection, love, and nurturing in ways that a classroom can't offer them. Our disconnection from nature and quite frankly each other has put society into a deficit. To regrow the connections to each other, we need to grow our empathy and connection to the Earth. Forest Schools have the ability to do both. They are a community of people who are attune to nature and the ways that it is beneficial to children and adults. It allows us to slow down, take notice of things, appreciate the small parts of this world and learn from it. I am so excited to join those folks in the journey to bringing connection to our younger generations."
